Third Annual San Francisco Food Blogger Bake Sale!

Hey you! So, in case you didn’t hear, this coming Saturday, April 28th, from 11am to 4pm is the THIRD annual San Francisco Food Blogger Bake Sale! It’s going to be crazy awesome. We’re raising money for Share our Strength, a nonprofit organization dedicated to eradicating hunger for children. 100% of the proceeds are going to them, so please stop by and buy some treats.

Now, there’s been some blips in organizing the event, including a change of location. So be sure to go to our bake sale location at Omnivore Books in Noe Valley (Cesar Chavez Street and Church Street) and not anywhere else. As an added bonus, at 3pm, Omnivore Books will be hosting a book signing by legendary baker Alice Medrich for her new book Sinfully Easy Delicious Desserts. My friend Sang An did the photography for the book and he told me when he was photographing the food that he and his partner gorged themselves on incredible creations that Alice made. So jealous!

Alice's new cookbook along with a picture of her bittersweet brownie drops, recipe in her book.

I’ll be there, along with whatever baked goods I come up with (still trying to figure that out). Of course, if you don’t like what I make, you can always pick something up by one of my co-organizers, Anita of Desserts First, Shauna of Piece of Cake or Annelies of La Vie En Route. Of course, if those don’t float your boat, there should be over 30 other bloggers donating baked goods, so you know there is going to be something fantastic for you to buy and eat. I hope to see you all at the bake sale! And if you can’t make it to the bake sale, feel free to donate directly to the funds, or locate a bake sale in your city!

I’m in the wrong line of work. Or have the wrong friends. Or live in the wrong city. Or something. I will buy this book. Its the least I could do for Ms. Medrich for the genius behind her cocoa brownie recipe that I now tell everyone is mine. If this book has just one recipe half as good as that it would worth paying twice as much as this book costs.

Is there any information on a bake sale for 2013? I can’t find anything about one for this year.

"Mr. Lin, a graphic designer in San Francisco who writes the food blog Eat the Love, takes risks in nearly every one of the 150 elaborate recipes in his book. He doesn’t just paint the lily; he bejewels and shellacs it, too."
–MELISSA CLARK for the New York Times

“My goodness, this cookbook! It’s filled to the brim with recipes for the most splendidly beautiful cakes, cookies, breads, and tarts I think I’ve ever seen. My eyes kept getting wider and wider as I turned every page—both the flavor combinations and the photos are out of this world. Irvin Lin has most definitely outdone himself. This book is a triumph!”
—REE DRUMMOND, New York Times best-selling author of The Pioneer Woman Cooks

“Irvin Lin gives home-baked treats a twist, ramping them up with a range of contemporary flavors that are sure to surprise and delight. From beer-battered brownies to smoky butterscotch taking a classic cake to the next level, I can’t wait to mix, stir, and bake my way through Marbled, Swirled, and Layered!”
—DAVID LEBOVITZ, author of My Paris Kitchen
