The 5th Annual San Francisco International Chocolate Salon

Hey there everyone! I just wanted to drop a quick note to let everyone know that there’s a pretty awesome event in San Francisco coming up called The San Francisco International Chocolate Salon. Presented by Taste TV, it’ll be the 5th annual event for this chocolate extravaganza and it sounds amazing. With over 50 master chocolatiers, candy makers, wineries and other food peeps, it’s probably perfect for those of you with a major sweet tooth.

Some of the amazing chocolates that will be presenting (and sampling) there include Guittard, Ghirardelli, Saratoga, Alter Eco, Neo Cocoa, CocoTutti, Kika’s Treats, New Tree and Valrhona. There also be some rockstar chefs and food elites like Jake Gandolfo of MasterChef, Candice Kumai of Lifetime and TLC, Chef Stephen Durfee of CIA and former pastry chef of The French Laundry as well as Alice Medrich, who’s basically the goddess of chocolate.

I’ll be there on April 17th, 2010 helping to judge the chocolates (I know, I have a hard life) so if you see me there, be sure to come up and say hi. The event is totally open to the public, with tickets at $25 in advance (while they last) and $30 at the door. I’m kind of already salivating at the idea of a room full of chocolate, so don’t be surprised if you DO meet me and I’m either in a sugar coma or in a sugar high. I’m normally much more even keel. Well, actually not really. I’m usually a total spaz, but I clean up pretty well (or so I tell myself).

If you can’t make it, look for a write up about the event in a future post though. Hopefully I won’t eat my weight in chocolate and drink myself into as stupor and will remember to take a few pictures. Just cross your fingers that I don’t make a fool of myself in front of Alice Medrich.

The 5th Annual San Francisco International Chocolate Salon is presented by Taste TV. It will be held on Sunday, April 17th, 2010 at the Fort Mason Center Festival Pavilion, with over 50,000 square feet of chocolate, wine and confections. Whoa. That’s a lot of chocolate. Tickets are available online and at the door. Hope to see you there!

"Mr. Lin, a graphic designer in San Francisco who writes the food blog Eat the Love, takes risks in nearly every one of the 150 elaborate recipes in his book. He doesn’t just paint the lily; he bejewels and shellacs it, too."
–MELISSA CLARK for the New York Times

“My goodness, this cookbook! It’s filled to the brim with recipes for the most splendidly beautiful cakes, cookies, breads, and tarts I think I’ve ever seen. My eyes kept getting wider and wider as I turned every page—both the flavor combinations and the photos are out of this world. Irvin Lin has most definitely outdone himself. This book is a triumph!”
—REE DRUMMOND, New York Times best-selling author of The Pioneer Woman Cooks

“Irvin Lin gives home-baked treats a twist, ramping them up with a range of contemporary flavors that are sure to surprise and delight. From beer-battered brownies to smoky butterscotch taking a classic cake to the next level, I can’t wait to mix, stir, and bake my way through Marbled, Swirled, and Layered!”
—DAVID LEBOVITZ, author of My Paris Kitchen
