“I want to feel sunlight on my face…I see the dust cloud disappear, without a trace. I want to take shelter from the poison rain…Where the streets have no name…” cried out Bono from the car stereo as AJ and I drove through the alien landscape of the Joshua Tree National Park. I had insisted that we listen to U2 as we visited the National Park and it turns out that the Joshua Tree album is actually the perfect soundtrack to the park. Yes, I’m sure everyone else who visits the park does the exact same thing but somehow, having never visited the park, and haven’t listened to the album in years, it all coalesced into a bit of a magical experience for us both. We had wanted to go to Joshua Tree for awhile, but we just hadn’t carved out the time for it, and finally, last November, we did. It didn’t disappoint, nor did Bono. There, I think we found what we were looking for.
[Editorial note: I had just gotten an iPad for my birthday so I decided to let AJ shoot with the big camera and test out what the iPad capabilities were in terms of it's camera. All photos in this post were taken with a 3rd generation iPad - a camera comparable to the iPhone 4GS, though there was considerable post-process done within Lightroom.]

Wow, that is impressive. I have the original iPad, no camera. Pretty darn good. Still thinking about getting a smaller camera to travel with instead of my 5D and iPhone though. Oh, the options!

I have so many fond memories of Joshua Tree. My dad is happiest outdoors, and we made many a trip to Joshua Tree growing up. Although it’s been years since I’ve been back, it’s still one of my favorite places. Gorgeous pictures!!
wow, very pretty place! i’ll have to admit though, i’ve never heard of that album, so i went there and heard tons of people all listenng to the same songs i’d be very puzzled.
